Well known Consultant, Scott Wheeler,
who's been a successful broker and lessor,
talks about your kids and our Nation's Capital...
A lessor recently shared with me a message he'd received from Scott Wheeler encouraging him to bring his family with him to Washington, DC.  With Scott's permission, I'm sharing it here with you.

Every American should see Washington, DC and it's a great, fun and educational experience for kids of all ages.  I highly encourage you to attend the 2012 NEFA Funding Symposium this September ?and to bring your family to Washington, DC, with you when you do.

And, contrary to what many people assume, Washington, DC is not a particularly expensive place for a family vacation; so much there is free.

All of the Smithsonian Museums are free.  Your kids will love the American History Museum ?the First Ladies dresses; Dorothy's ruby slippers; the original Star Spangled Banner flag, the old cars.  They’ll love the Air and Space Museum.  Seeing the actual lunar space ship is awesome.  Both museums are absolutely free.

The Natural History Museum is also free ?think great dinosaurs and much, much more.
The National Zoo is free and is one of the best in the world.

Visiting the Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Martin Luther King Memorial, The FDR Memorial, The Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall, the Korean Veterans Memorial and the World War II Memorial are all great, stirring experiences that make history come alive in a way a textbook never could ?and they’re all free.

Just having a picnic on The National Mall with the Capitol at one end, the Lincoln Memorial at the other, and the Washington Monument towering magnificently between them, is a family event that every family should have.  You can walk from one memorial to another easily.

You can contact the local office of your US Congressional representative and get passes for tours of the Capitol building, or The White House.  They’re both free, too, and within walking distance of everything else I’ve mentioned.
Visiting Arlington National Cemetery and watching the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier will touch every member of your family.  I also love visiting The National Cathedral, or just walking through Georgetown.  The Old Post Office tower also provides an unbelievable view of the city.
Those are just some of the free things to do and see and they’re all close to each other and close to the NEFA Funding Symposium conference hotel.

A few other things that are not free but are equally worth seeing include the American Indian Museum; the Ford Theatre or a boat cruise down the Potomac to George Washington’s magnificent home, Mount Vernon.

If you’re worried about your kids missing school, don’t.

Talk to your kid's teachers and target some things your kids can learn and talk to their classes about when they get back.  What an opportunity that is!

Look online or in any bookstore, there are dozens and dozens of guide books specifically about turning a Washington, DC family trip into a fun and powerful educational experience for your kids.

The fact is, your kids will learn more in one day in Washington, DC than they’ll learn in a month at school
?and the family memories will last them a lifetime.

This will be one of the most inexpensive family trips you ever take and it will be a lifelong memory for you, too.

COME ON MOM AND DAD ?Bring your Kids to Washington DC!

Even just one new idea or connection at the NEFA Funding Symposium will more than pay for the monetary cost of the trip. But some family opportunities are truly priceless.  This is one of them.

I hope to see you there!

Steve Geller, of Leasing Solutions, an intermediary service for brokers and lessors, agrees.

"I'm coming to the Funding Symposium" he said, "and bringing my wife and one or two of our grandchildren.  My daughter-in-law said this was well worth them missing a day or two of school for!"

Act quickly and it will cost even less, though!  Early Bird conference registration is still open but only until the end of July!  Don't delay.  Register now and also book your room at the NEFA conference hotel before the discount room block is sold out.  Our room block is an incredible value to be so close to everything you'll want your family to see.

NEFA's 2012 Funding Symposium
Sep 13-15, Washington, DC
It's the nation's premiere exposition and and education event for independent equipment finance businesses and brokers.

Early registrations are already the fastest and at the highest level we've ever seen.  Right now, while we're making our hotel and food and beverage commitments, you can register at substantial savings and get a hotel room way, way less than typical downtown Washington, DC rates.  But you have to act now.  Our discounted hotel rooms are selling out quickly and when they're gone, they're gone!

Early Bird Registration Discounts Still Available Through July 31!

The Symposium will still be a great value even if you pay more to register or for a hotel room, but hey, why not take that savings while it's available?
